The Golden Dragon Museum is a living history of the Chinese People of Bendigo, from the 1850's goldrush to the present day.


Our Mission is;

TO HOUSE and preserve the collection of the GOLDEN DRAGON MUSEUM Inc. and the Bendigo Chinese Association.

TO COLLECT, preserve and care for materials of historical and cultural significance to the Chinese Community, particularly items relevant to the Goldfields region of Victoria.

TO PROMOTE goodwill and understanding between Chinese, Australians, and people of other races and nationalities.

IN CONJUNCTION with MUSEUMS AUSTRALIA (Victoria), to provide a venue for professional workshops for smaller museums.

TO PROMOTE, care and encourage proper preservation, housing and display of objects of art of Chinese people in general and in particular of the Chinese people of Bendigo and the surrounding districts.

TO PROVIDE educational programmes at all levels on Chinese history, language, culture, and Arts.

TO CARRY OUT research into well documented material in good condition for purposes of display.

TO PROMOTE and exchange exhibitions between China, other countries, and within Australia.

TO TAKE a long term approach to planning for the collection, to ensure that its management provides for conservation and security for future generations.

TO ENCOURAGE interest in the contribution made and still being made by Chinese or persons of Chinese descent to the history of Australia, and for the museum to become a vibrant, active centre which provides visitors with an opportunity to exercise Chinese culture 52 weeks of the year.

TO MAKE the Golden Dragon Museum the Chinese cultural centre of Australia.
